The aluminium manufacturer Gränges Sweden AB, Uppsala Synchrotronix AB, and X-ray spectroscopists from the Thin Film Physics division at Linköping University have studied the detailed mechanisms of the oxide break-up in flux-free brazing of aluminium under realistic conditions. The study was performed at ambient pressure at the XPS beamlines HIPPIE and
SPECIES at MAX IV in Lund. The project was running from November 2018 to February 2020. The BreakFree project was partly funded by the Swedish Innovation Agency. A project one-pager can be downloaded through the link to the right. For inquiries about similar investigations by Uppsala Synchrotronix, please contact Robert Moberg.
