In the 3DBraze project, the aluminium manufacturer Gränges Sweden AB, Uppsala Synchrotronix AB, and imaging experts in the Division of Solid Mechanics at Lund University have used 3D techniques to get insights about detrimental liquid penetration phenomena that can occur during brazing of aluminium. The project was running from October 2018 to October 2019. Experiments were performed at Lund University, at SPring-8 in Japan, and at Petra-3 in Hamburg. The 3DBraze project was partly funded by the Swedish Innovation Agency. It has been presented by Gränges Sweden at the Metallic materials conference and at other events. It has also been highlighted in news articles about Gränges’ synchrotron radiation R&D program (for instance, in metallerochgruvor).
